A Founding Member of the Short Leap Ensemble, J. Imani (she/her) was first introduced to Josh and Nathan in the same “fateful” Scene Study class.

J.’s experience on the stage is nothing to scoff at either, having been instrumental in the beginning of Study Sessions. J.’s feedback is insightful, valuable, consistent, and growth-oriented.

Also a gifted performer, J. has performed in notable Minnesota productions such as All American Boys (Stages Theater), Reboot (Walking Shadow Theater), and The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Lyric Arts Theater). She has also been part of ensembles in Gloria: A Life (History Theater) and Spring Awakening (The Chameleon Theater Co.). Most recently, Jamila appeared in The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley with Buffalo Theatre Ensemble and on the Barn Theatre stage in Heartbreak Hotel. Her roles span classic dramas like Antigone (Park Square Theater) and A Christmas Carol (Guthrie Theater) to contemporary works such as Teen Idol: A Bobby Vee Story (History Theater). Jamila holds a BA in Theater Performance Creation with a focus in Musical Theater from the University of MN-Twin Cities.
